Are you fed up of that ugly jog when you change colour in knitted rounds? I have the solution and it is unbelievably simple.

Is it a knitting game changer?

Absolutely, and it’s really easy to knit neat colour joins when you do this one extra step method!

Obvious difference with using the technique versus not.

Jogless Stripe Knitting Technique

Step 1 – Knit a round in your new colour and slip your place marker.

Step 2 – Each stitch is made up of a right and a left leg and they combine to make a V shape. Identify the right leg of the first stitch of the round below – this will be in the previous colour.

Step 3 – Use right-hand needle to pick up the right leg of the stitch from the round below (previous colour) and place it onto the left-hand needle.

Step 4 – You should have two loops snuggled together – the first stitch of the new colour and the right leg of the first stitch from the previous round.

Step 5 – place needle knitwise through both loops and knit together (k2tog).

This simple extra step leads to a neat, jogless knitted stripe. You can clearly see how much neater the colour stripes are when the technique is used.

When to Use Jogless Colour Technique

The knitting technique shared above is best used at the beginning of a knitted round.

On stripes of three rounds or more, the technique will neat bands of colour with a barely visible join. On two-round stripes, the join will look like it has a slipped stitch (see image below).
