This triangular shawl pattern uses linen stitch (also known as tweed or moss stitch), which is a perfect match for this yarn because it has a similar look to fish scales.

The structure of Arria is simple but effective and easy to memorise. It uses the intarsia crochet technique. With just three balls of yarn on the go throughout, it is a good beginner intarsia project.  It is an easy project to introduce you to this technique.

Go wild with variegated yarns or keep it simple with semi-solids – the possibilities are endless. You could even go scrap-busting for the intarsia triangles…

Yarn Requirements & Finished Measurements

2 x 100g of 4ply (400m/ 437yds per 100g).

1 x 20g of 4ply (80m/ 87yds per 20g).

Shawl Dimensions: 150cm/59” for the top edge of the shawl, two equal sides of 96cm/37.75” and depth of 60cm/23.5”.

Materials Used in Sample

RiverKnits Nene 4ply, 100g/400m/437yds, 100% British Bluefaced Leicester. 2 x 100g of shade ‘Mermaid’ and 1 x 20g in shade ‘Brilliant Fuchsia’.
