Caves for Christmas! We decided to switch things Caves for Christmas! We decided to switch things up this year and go for an early(ish) morning walk up to Thor’s Cave near Wetton. This place is usually heaving with folks taking photos (now known as Gram Ram), so today was the perfect day to visit when it was quiet. Great set of caves to freak around in and the view is lovely from up there. Chuffed that our nephew @lewis_buddle also wanted to come. And now I get to do a little more of my sheep embroidery while Matthew makes a roasty ham dinner. I hope you have all had a lovely day too? X
Always heed the warning of a seagull! Festive gre Always heed the warning of a seagull! Festive greetings to you all. Not sure where last week went to. It was a blur of long hours at my computer - all very dull! Luckily we had a Bonus Christmas gathering with our friends down on the windy south coast. Unluckily for Jenny, she fell off a seagull! You know we are best mates because I did not help her up. I was far too busy laughing at her. We finally have decorations up. Yes it is Christmas Eve, but we finally have decorations up! All very simple, using what we had around the house already. Our cake even got decorated today! Marzipan with a knitty twist. If you love marzipan, try popping a small disk of it in your mince pies before adding the mincemeat. 👩‍🍳 I’m looking forward to some time off with lots of home cooked food and crafting with sparkly lights to help keep the Winter darkness at bay.

The box of decorations might make it out of the loft tomorrow night though. Today was a looooong computer based day as I finished off all the blog posts needed for my latest design - Crochet By Numbers Blanket. It’s in @insidecrochet issue 174 (current one). It’s a squishy puff stitch hexagon motif that I made in @jarbontextiles Knit By Numbers DK. Pop to my ‘In Mags & Journals’ story highlight if you want more details on the pattern. The good folks at John Arbon Textiles have pulled together kits for it (cot and lap sized) in my colourway and a rainbow 🌈 one too! Seeing your in print is always exciting! The Christmas Market in Winchester was so busy! I The Christmas Market in Winchester was so busy! It’s a beautiful city that goes all out for the market with produce stalls and live music. I LOVED ❤️ the hat on the saxophonist ( I saw it in SeaSalt a little later in the day) and the mega sized yarn trees in Anthropolgie’s window. <<< feel like a scrappy mini version of them need to be designed… Finally got back home after a closed motorway. Many kitten catten cuddles have been had.

Today’s unexpected animal was a deer. We found a great bit of yarn bombing in the local town. I started working on some decorations from a kit. I swapped out the standard cotton thread for the DMC organic wool thread. If you love embroidery and want to try something new, this wool thread has worked up beautifully. What better than some crafting time with Maggie Smith giving it her all. I have gone back to the very beginning of Downton Abbey. Happy day spent with an amazing friend.
BFF Festive Trip! Every year my best, best, best BFF Festive Trip! Every year my best, best, best friend (she knows all my deepest, darkest secrets) and I come away for a weekend in December. Just the two of us. No husbands, no kids, just us. This was Jenny packing light. She has 11 bags/ boxes to my three. Believe it or not, this is a personal best for her. We are staying in an eco barn that seems to come with a peahen. Ours is the one that looks like the aurora borealis is emanating from it. A lovely afternoon of crafting before a late night trip to TK Maxx to find the best toot available. Jenny found a pink gonk vase which I hated and she loved. I found a very sad, pink flocked deer with missing antlers and a snapped ear. Apparently it was “damaged but adorable” and worth £8. Swerve! Tomorrow is a crafting day - yay!
